The Ely area is quickly becoming a Minnesota hotspot for mountain biking, gravel riding, and scenic paved trail riding with the development of the scenic Mesabi Trail and the new professionally built single track mountain bike trails at the Hidden Valley Recreation Area. See below for more details.

Located in town this 4 miles mostly paved trail goes around Miners Lake, a former iron ore mining pit. History abounds in the area providing a glimpse into the economic lifeblood of the past.
