Here it is the middle of July and we are finally getting around to writing about June. We guess we have been having too much fun watching all of our guest relax and have fun. Here in north eastern Minnesota the weather was cool with basically gentle rains at all of the appropriate times which help keep the water levels up and the forests green and lush. Yes, we realize that a lot of you have had more than your share of moisture.

In addition to being great fisher people, many of our guests are fantastic photographers, and while they are waiting for a really monstrous fish to jump on their hook, they busy themselves with enjoying and photographing the flora and fauna of the area.

As one leaves our dock on Moose Lake and heads to the left, there is a narrows that goes into a back bay. Many of our guests have dubbed the bay with many different names. Whatever it may be called, one morning some of our guests were leaving to fish the bay which was masked by a remarkable fog. It made them wonder if they were going into a mysterious world.

Here while one person was trying to land a beautiful northern pike, his buddy, rather than handling the net, was busy taking pictures. By the way, the pike was landed in spite of the lack of a net.

Another time, just as one of the boat members was trying to land a walleye, we think it may have been anxious to get into the boat in order to avoid the large snapping turtle that was chasing it. We are guessing that the turtle may have been about 40 years old. It didn't stick around for an up close and personal interview.

Mosquitoes are one of the north woods biggest menaces. We often have a lot of them. However, the main diet of dragon flies just happens to be mosquitoes, so we welcome them with open arms. Here, while waiting for his "catch of the day" to arrive, this dragon fly arrived and was apparently waiting for his lunch. Dragon flies are a great mosquito repellent. We wish we could harness and train them to do their job around us all of the time.

While traversing the chain of lakes (Moose, Newfound, and Sucker) on the way to Prairie Portage, there is a large eagle's nest just toward the entrance to Sucker. High in a scrubby white pine tree, our photographer captured a great picture of mom and junior sitting on the outer rim of their nest. Dad was probably out fishing for breakfast.

We have guests who having been coming to the Boundary Waters long before we were here. They love coming back for the tranquility and the good fishing. This gentleman would not disclose how long he has been visiting us, but he still has a wonderful time enjoying the comradery of his friends, and of course the wonderful fishing.

At the other end of the age scale, we have guests who have returned since they were very little people. Here one of them is pulling in a super bass.

Because we are so late in writing this note, we thought we should include a picture that was taken of our 4th of July picnic. We invite all of our guests as well as our neighbors and friends from town. The weather was perfect and a good time was had by all.
